Our Events

We organise regular league-based round-robin events with players assigned leagues according to ability and/or their position in a previous event. Abilities are derived from a player's DUPR number or, if they're not registered, a self-assessment according to established rating guides.

We also organise annual events including:

  • "The Rother Cup" held in the 'twixmas' period each year. This is a team-based event (2 ladies, 2 men) formed by players representing local clubs in the Rother & Wealden area. The winning team receives a annual trophy which will have the team name engraved on the plinth. Medals are awarded to the member of each team finishing in first, second and third place.
  • "Finals Day" held in April/May each year. This is for individual men and women, with participation is based on attendance at at least 3 previous R&W events that year. Leagues are formed according to performance at those events. The overall winning lady and man each receive an annual plaque which will have their name engraved, an individual keepsake plaque and a gold medal. Medals are also awarded to the ladies and men who finish in second and third place overall.

Special prizes will be awarded to the 'most improved player' and 'best newcomer'.

Participants for each event are determined via a WhatsApp poll.

Eight teams each with 4 players (2 ladies, 2 men) of mixed ability (1x <3.0, 2x 3.0-3.5, 1x 3.5+) spread across 2 sessions. Teams arranged into leagues. In each league, players 1 and 2 from one team, play against the 1s and 2s from every other team. Likewise for players 3 and 4. In the next round, matches are 1s and 3s against all other 1s and 3s, and 2s and 4s against all other 2s and 4s.
